The ‘State of Local Government in Gauteng’ is derived from the Gauteng City-Region Observatory’s seventh Quality of Life (2023/24) survey. It is one of the largest social surveys in SA that conducted about 14 000 face-to-face interviews in Gauteng to understand the dimensions of quality of life. The presentation will cover access and satisfaction with basic services; factors shaping satisfaction with government; participation in social and political life; and satisfaction with national, provincial and local government – down to individual metro and local municipalities in the province.
