Prof Eddie Webster and Karin Pampallis were in Ghana earlier this month for the launch of the book ‘Crossing the Divide: Precarious Work and the Future of Labour’ (edited by Edward Webster, Akua Opokua Britwum and Sharit Bhowmik). The launch at the University of Ghana follows those in South Africa and India.

Crossing the Divide reveals that the history and legacy of colonialism is shaping the response of the Global South in ways that are quite different from that of the North. Comparing work in India, Ghana, and South Africa, this book shows how innovative organisational strategies are emerging in the Global South to bridge the widening divide between the formal and informal economy.
